tape

project overview

tape by stephen belber is a bold, disturbing, and often quite shocking piece of theatre. it also, however, contains a deep sense of play, a darkly fun theatricality, and a true sense of whimsical, comedy. that is a whole lot of descriptors! in the design for this particular production’s poster, I did my darndest to give voice to this stories’ qualities.

my biggest ally in accomplishing such a task was the utilization of color, shape, and depth. specifically, I did this through bright greens and yellows, bold line work, and a pop-out like effect. this “in your face” quality to the typography along with the quintessential “tape” calls to mind this stories’ provocative and bold nature.
